The L: Drive "Learning Drive"

Need to share data with students in any of our COEHD labs? We have a new service available! It is called the "Learning Drive" L: and this is how it works:

An individual or professor requests to be added to the COEHD "Learning Group". Upon receipt of the request we add your account to the group which in turn will enable you to receive the new L: drive. The professor or individual making the request gains full access to a personal folder. The students are then able to see the drive for any of the COEHD labs they are in. In the classrooms the students also get the L: drive but only read permissions. The L: drive consists of a list of folders with the appropriate professors or individuals names which the students can browse.

There are some things to keep in mind when using the "Learning Drive" though, here are the key things to remember:

  • The L: drive contains information you want to share with your class.
  • This information should be considered public and not contain sensitive data.
  • This information will be wiped at the end of every semester.
  • Students have read only access.
  • Professors have full read/write access.
  • The L: drive is not for critical data.
  • Disk space is limited and on a first come first serve basis.

  • Scanners Mappings

Have you noticed your "Shortcut to My Scans" folder on your desktop? If you belong to COEHD and regularly use one of the large Xerox or Ricoh Aficio scanners you should automatically be receiving the shortcut to your desktop. In addition you should also be receiving a drive mapping of "Scans" as your T: drive. If you are not we would like to hear from you please take time to email or call now at Ext. 5439. Thank-you
